PBM2024 Educational courses
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

PBM in musculoskeletal applications

Prof. Nivaldo Antonio Parizotto

Learning objectives:

  1. To identify the main characteristics of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders and the common features among them;
  2. To understand how photobiomodulation can play a key role in the rehabilitation of the main musculoskeletal disorders;
  3. To access the quality of new evidence regarding the use of photobiomodulation in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders;
  4. To assess the suitability of the photobiomodulation parameters based on the positive or negative clinical outcomes observed in the high quality randomized controlled trials in this subject.

Dentistry and Orofacial Disorders Course

PROF. REEM HANNA

Learning Objectives:

  1. Exploring the basic principles of Photobiomodulation (PBM) and the factors that influence the optimal outcomes;
  2. Understanding the role of PBM in various clinical applications in dentistry and orofacial disorders;
  3. Evaluating the scientific literature in relation to the current clinical studies.

Clinical trials

PROF. PRAVEEN ARANY

Learning Objectives:

  1. To learn about the objectives and purpose of designing clinical research studies;
  2. To assess the methodology for study design and execution;
  3. To analyze and interpret the relevance of acquired data to make sound inferences.

3:15 PM - 5:15 PM

Neurology

PROF. MICHAEL HAMBLIN

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding the basic principles of PBM mechanisms in neurological diseases;
  2. Evaluating the scientific literature and clinical trials;
  3. Exploring PBM dosimetry in optimising clinical outcomes.

Wound healing

PROF. PRAVEEN ARANY

Learning Objectives:

  1. To examine the key features of wound healing phases;
  2. To identify opportunities to improve healing responses;
  3. To evaluate the literature on novel avenues, especially photobiomodulation, on wound care.

Learning objectives of PBM for Supportive Care in Cancer

PROF. RENE-JEAN BENSADOUN

Learning Objectives:

  1. To emphasize on the importance of global care (including PBM and nutrition) in the management of all cancers;
  2. To evaluate the role of PBM in the prevention and the treatment of major side effects of cancer therapies;
  3. To define, for each cancer patient, the potential side effects of cancer therapy, and to individualise the PBM approach for each cancer patient to avoid or mitigate side effects of cancer therapy (PBM targets definition, right parameters and protocols, etc...).
